“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favour rests.”
Luke 2:14 (NIV)
As human beings, we are not short of troubles. As long as we live, trouble will find us, which can be disparaging at times. Facing adversity is not an easy task, and many lack the fortitude to persevere through it. They can hardly be faulted for this; after all, we are all mere human beings. There is only so much we can do in our strength.
It is only the peace of God that can carry us through those difficult seasons. The peace of God comes through Jesus and is a gift to us. It means that we no longer have to face hard situations on our own; this peace surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). By giving our life to Christ and submitting to Him, we gain access to God’s favour and, by extension, His peace (Luke 2:14).
This is truly a reason to celebrate! Whatever your circumstances today, don’t struggle with them on your own. I encourage you to submit to God and grab hold of the gift of peace; it’s a simple prayer away.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for this day. Even now, we ask that You show us Your favour and grant us Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
